Crafting the perfect roof is not just luck, there’s a science to it!
We believe that an informed customer is a satisfied one. Understanding the process will help you make the best decision, when it comes to redesigning your property.
This not only makes the entire process more transparent, but will also give you a deeper appreciation of the craftmanship we provide.
Stage 1: Removing the Old Roof
The job begins with the removing the old roof. Our team dismantles and disposes of the existing materials. Depending on the roof, this may not be necessary, if the old roof is good quality and remains in good condition.
Stage 2: Boarding and Deck Preparation
Creating a stable foundation is essential. We install boards, securely fastened with screws, while ensuring a precise gradient for efficient water drainage.
Stage 3: Fitting Perimeter Trims
We next focus on the edges of the roof, where we install fibreglass trims, using high-quality nails. This not only enhances the aesthetics but also ensures a watertight seal. These trims are visible from the ground and will be painted to match the roof.
Stage 4: Mixing Resin and Catalyst
The mixture of resin and catalyst determines how quickly the fibreglass will cure/set. We combine 1.5kg of resin for every 1m² of the roof, ensuring the ideal consistency and strength.
Stage 5: Laying Fiberglass
We lay the fiberglass matting, ensuring complete coverage and adhesion to the resin-soaked deck. We make sure to overlap each section of matt, to ensure the entire roof is completely water tight.
Stage 6: Applying Resin with Rollers
Our technicians apply the resin using rollers, evenly distributing it across the fiberglass surface for maximum adhesision. The fibreglass matt must be effectively resin-soaked to become completely water tight.
Stage 7: Hand Glassing Corners and Trim Overlaps
Detail matters. We make sure to manually hand-glass corners and trim overlaps using mini rollers to ensure there are no weak points in your roof. Utilising mini rollers allows for more precise angles and a smoother finish.
Stage 8: Sanding for Perfection
To guarantee a flawless finish, we carefully sand any imperfections on the deck, leaving it flat and ready for the final touches. This will make the final product look more aesthetically pleasing and reduce any chance of cracking.
Stage 9: Applying the Topcoat
The final layer is the topcoat, which enhances the appearance and adds an extra layer of protection, helping the roof to stand the test of time. We provide a choice of colours and apply it to the trimmed edges too, making the roof appear as one solid piece. The topcoat also provides extreme UV and heat resistance.
